Whichever option you choose should be memorable, otherwise the alarms raised will not be closed.
A personal PIN Code is the 4 digit number given to a user who has a Peoplesafe app to access their activity timer. This can be overridden by face or touch ID on newer phones. It may not be the best option for your team if they override their PIN or don't use the activity timer feature regularly.
We do not recommend using this for device users.
Date of Birth should only be used if you are confident all users will have this supplied on their online profile. This is a very memorable and unique identifier which makes it an easy closure setting to use, but consider your User's sensitivities first. If people are conscious about saying their DOB/age in public, this may not be the best option.
Personal Code words are a great option if you already have personal ID's for your employees that they use regularly for other work activities.
You can update this code word by opening a user's profile and adding/updating the code word. This should be a short word and not a long phrase, so they can remember and say this easily to confirm their alarm can be closed.
We want to confirm identity. When a User confirms that an alarm can be closed, they will be asked for this closure code to confirm their identity. If not quoted correctly, the alarm will not be closed. The alarm will continue to be monitored and escalated until an Escalation Contact or User can correctly confirm their welfare.
We don't always check identity, although an Alarm Controller may choose to ask the User for their name or another identifier when handling an alarm, if they are suspicious. It is important that anything used for alarm closure is completely unique to the User and cannot be easily quoted by a colleague or possible aggressor.
