Making a plan to communicate about onboarding and beyond.
Companies that establish clear and structured communication plans tend to see the highest levels of adoption. For best results, train Managers first, so they have early sight and buy-in to support you with implementation to users. Here is a basic 4 step plan as an example.
Personal safety is being implemented to support employees in [these teams] who have [these risks]. We have chosen to introduce Peoplesafe as our supplier to provide 24/7 support through a dedicated Alarm Receiving Centre. For more information - watch this video.
In preparation for implementing Peoplesafe, we have updated our company H&S [and/or] Lone Worker Policy. You have the role of [insert role] and will have responsibilities to carry out to keep yourself/others safe. Please read the attached documents carefully.
Next week, you will receive training. Save this phone number in your mobile, it is the Peoplesafe Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC): 0208 786 1010. You must answer their calls. We will have [this duress word] as part of our Alarm Response, remember this for later.
Here is access to Peoplesafe training, please complete this [by this time]. Once you have completed your training, your device/app will be issued. You must keep it charged, switched on and with you to keep yourself safe.
The best way to keep on top of training is to set up regular reports for yourself and managers. Read these reports and use them as a call to action. Identify and celebrate people who use their device/app well and spot others who don't. You can then discuss and discipline people as needed.
We also have lots of content on our website and social media, including studies on personal safety, examples of real life incidents and other industry specific statistics and tips. You can share these with your organisation to help keep personal safety front of mind beyond onboarding Peoplesafe.
