Privacy and Location Sharing

We know location can feel personal — OK Alone isn’t here to track you 24/7. Your location is only shared when you give permission: for example, when you check in for a shift or if an alarm is raised and help is needed. Monitors don’t have a backdoor into your phone. They only see location information that you’ve allowed and only for as long as it’s required to keep you safe.

How it works for you:

You’re in control — location is shared only when you check in or when an emergency alarm activates.
Temporary access — shared location is used to find or assist you during a shift or incident, and it isn’t kept live after the situation is resolved.
Limited viewers — only the assigned monitor team or emergency responders (if needed) can see the location, and only to respond to a safety event.
Protected data — location and check-in information are handled according to your employer’s privacy policy and OK Alone’s security safeguards.

GPS Settings

To ensure your safety while using OK Alone, the app relies on your phone’s GPS to share your location. Different GPS settings are available to balance accuracy with battery life. Choosing the right option helps maintain reliable location tracking without draining your phone unnecessarily.

GPS High – this uses your phone’s GPS to provide continuous location data every 10 seconds. It is the most accurate setting. The data is collected even when no cell signal is available.
GPS Normal – this uses your phone’s GPS to provide continuous location data to the system every 1–2 minutes. With this setting the battery use is minimised whilst still providing an accurate location in case of emergency.
Non GPS – updates your location at regular intervals. This setting maximises battery life whilst providing an approximate location. This should only be used if an accurate location is not required.
Off – this turns the GPS off.
