App Features

The features in this section come as standard, these can be turned on and off making the application customisable to your personal requirements.

RAISE AN SOS ALARM

To raise an alarm in an emergency, press and hold the ‘SOS Alarm’ button on the main screen of the application for at least 3 seconds.

When an alarm is raised successfully, the phone will vibrate and automatically initiate a phone call to our Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC).

The application will also acquire an up-to-date GPS location - or most recently stored location - to send to Peoplesafe so you can be located in order to send emergency services, if required.

REAL LIFE SCENARIO
A delivery driver was sitting in his van when he began feeling very dizzy and started to experience shortness of breath. He pressed the SOS Alarm and informed the Alarm Controller he felt unwell. The Controller contacted emergency services providing his location and information about the situation.

The Controller remained in contact with the driver until the paramedics arrived, he had experienced a heart attack and without being able to call for help easily, may not have survived.

DISCREET ALARM

The discreet alarm function is a subtle yet effective way to trigger an SOS alarm without drawing attention or raising suspicion.

This feature is particularly useful in scenarios where you may feel unsafe or threatened but need to discreetly alert the ARC for support.

CONFIGURE DISCREET ALARM SETTINGS
You can change the discreet alarm settings to suit your preference, this can help to reduce the chance of accidently raising an alarm.

Power Button (Android only)
You can discreetly trigger an alarm by pressing the 'Power Button' multiple times. You can pre-define the number of presses required, ranging from 4 to 10, with the default set to 6 presses.

Shake the phone (iOS/Android)
Shaking the device anywhere between 1 and 10 seconds (defaulted to 3 seconds) can also raise an alarm. Additionally, you can change the function's sensitivity. Set at a default of 75%, it's adjustable between 1% and 100% to suit individual preferences.

TOP TIP: Increase Shake time and reduce Shake Sensitivity to avoid triggering alarms by mistake.

MANUAL POSITION

We require an up-to-date GPS location to be able to send emergency services to you. Before entering a building or going into an area where there is a low GPS signal, we recommend that you send a Manual Position.

To send your updated location, tap the ‘Manual Position’ tile on the application’s main screen.

Whilst the handset acquires an up-to-date location, the GPS status may flash yellow. A notification will appear to indicate that the application is currently acquiring an updated position.

When a new position is acquired, the handset will vibrate and a pop up message ‘Position has been logged’ will be displayed.

NOTE: If your phone does not have a GPS signal (red dot) then the last available location will be sent.

TIMED ACTIVITY

A “Timed Activity” feature is designed to ensure your safety during specific work tasks. Users can set up a one-time timer for specific activities with varying time requirements or that present different levels of risk. If you are unable to cancel or extend the timer, an alarm will be raised and the ARC can take immediate action based on the activity to send you assistance.

Here's how it works:

1. Create a Timed Activity

• Activity PIN: As verification you may be asked for your PIN or biometrics recognition, if required.
• Set the Timer: A timer can be set for the expected duration of the activity.
• Describe the Activity: Provide details about the nature of your task by outlining the risks that you may be facing, such as, falls from height, verbal abuse or additional information of the floor or room that you are located in. This information will be available to the Alarm Controllers when an alarm is raised.

2. During the Timed Activity

Once your activity is set, a countdown timer will appear on the Text Activity tile on the home screen.
You can tap the activity tile again to cancel, extend or amend activity before the time runs out.

Optionally, a Welfare Check can be set, where the app prompts you to acknowledge you're still safe during timed intervals of the activity.
5 minutes before timer expires you will receive a notification reminder to cancel or extend the timer.

3. Overrun Process

If the timer expires and you are unable to extend or cancel the activity, the app will initiate an overrun process. This involves:

5 minutes after the timer expires, you will receive an automated call from Peoplesafe.
If unanswered, another call will be made 5 minutes later.
If neither call is answered an alarm will be raised on your behalf.

TIMED ACTIVITY OPTIONS
There are two options to create a Timed Activity either a Text Activity or Log Activity.

TEXT ACTIVITY

Tap the Text Activity tile to create a Timed Activity.

Enter your details to set a timer on the Peoplesafe platform, which will protect you if you lose mobile signal. Click the image to view how to create a Text Activity.

DURESS PIN
If you're in a situation where you can't openly use the SOS alarm, discreet button, or shake methods, you can use the Duress PIN feature.

Instead of your regular Activity PIN, enter 0000 or 9999 to discreetly alert our ARC.

Your phone will vibrate once the message is sent.

LOG ACTIVITY

Log Activity is another way to create a Timed Activity. It lets you record your activity by voice message, saving time when you're in a hurry.

Remember to cancel or extend your activity. If you don't, the activity overrun process will start when the timer expires.

CHECK IN / OUT

Use Check In/Out to mark the start or end of your workday or tasks. This sends a location update to Nexus, helping managers track your safety.

When you Check In, you'll be asked to set a Text Activity. You can also update or cancel existing Text Activities.

VOICE MEMO

Record a voice memo with helpful details about your upcoming activity.

This won't set a timer but can provide extra information like:

Apartment number or floor
Name of the person you're meeting
Potential risks involved

Your voice memo will be available to the ARC and, will be saved to your Nexus profile.

GENERAL SETTINGS

1. Bluetooth - Use to enable and disable the Peoplesafe Smart Button.

2. Log Activity - When timing is of the essence create a Timed Activity by making a call.

3. User Info - View your user information, phone # and activity PIN, if enabled, which can be refreshed.

4. Travelsafe* - Tap to log your journey.

5. Tile Selection Menu - Change the tiles on your main screen.

6. About - View how the app features work with supporting videos.

7. Support - Access our Help Centre and Support teams, view which version of the app installed on your device, and find links to our Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions.

8. Fall detection* - Tap to toggle fall detection on, off or set sensitivity.

9. If Biometric authentication has been set up then you will see a Biometric toggle to turn it on or off.

10. Discreet Alarm - Customise the Discreet Alarm features.
